Fault Line is a card game for iOS and Android published by Gamivate (“we”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you play.
The short version
Single player collects nothing: it works fully offline and nothing leaves your phone. Online play uses only the nickname you choose and a random ID the app makes up, and a room's data is deleted shortly after the room ends. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
What stays on your device
The game saves a few things on your own device so they are remembered between sessions:
- music, sound effect, character voice and vibration settings
- your chosen table, deck and difficulty
- which tutorial lessons you have completed
- for online play: your nickname, that you agreed to the Fault Line Terms, a random install ID, and the room you are in (so you can rejoin it)
Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Online play
When you choose Online, the app connects to Gamivate's game server, which runs the match. It receives and keeps, only for as long as the room exists:
- the nickname you typed;
- your random install ID, which the server stores only as a scrambled code (a keyed hash). It is not a hardware or advertising ID, and it isn't linked to your name, email or phone number;
- the cards dealt and the moves made in that room.
Rooms are deleted automatically about 5 minutes after everyone has left or stopped playing, together with the nicknames and moves in them. The other players in your room see your nickname and your moves.
To keep online play safe, we also keep:
- Blocks: if you block a player, we keep the pair of scrambled install IDs so quick match never puts you together again.
- Reports: if you report a player, we keep the room code, their nickname, the reason, and both scrambled install IDs for up to 90 days so we can review it. Reports are emailed to our team.
- Bans: if a device breaks the Terms, we keep its scrambled install ID so it can't play online again.
Like any internet service, our server sees your IP address while it answers your requests. We use it only to limit abuse (too many requests in a minute) and don't store it with your game data. The service runs on Vercel (hosting) and Supabase (database), and report emails go through Resend. They process this data for us and nobody else.
What we don't do
- We don't ask for or collect your real name, email, location, contacts, photos or advertising ID.
- We don't use advertising, analytics or crash-reporting services.
- We don't sell or share your data for anyone else's use.
- Single player never connects to the internet.
App stores
You download Fault Line from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google handle your purchase, download and any crash reports you choose to share with developers under their own privacy policies.
Children
Single player is suitable for all ages. Online play is meant for players aged 13 and over, because it lets you play with strangers. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices and rights
You can play without ever going online. Because we don't collect names or contact details, we usually can't tell which data is yours, but if you have a question or want something deleted, email us and we'll help.
Changes
If a future version changes how the app handles information, we will update this policy and the “Last updated” date before that version is released.
